Retro Tapes at a glance

Ordinary tapes, Instant Prizes, Wild Tapes and Wild Multipliers have different jobs. Top Charts brings them together, but a printed prize value still needs a qualifying cluster.

Inside the game

How Retro Tapes works

How cassette symbols turn into a persistent bonus board

Tape clusters

A winning tape cluster requires at least five identical tapes.

When the cluster is collected:

  • it pays;
  • the clustered symbols spin off;
  • empty positions are filled by new tapes;
  • new clusters can form in the same game round.

Push Gaming’s provider material describes ordinary tape-cluster payout values from 0.1× to 1,000× depending on cluster type/size.

This is a cluster/refill game, not a line slot.

Instant Prize symbols

Instant Prize symbols carry direct bet-multiplier values.

The retained paytable lists: 1×, 2×, 5×, 10×, 25×, 50×, 100×, 250×, 500× and 1,000×.

They do not simply pay because one symbol appears. A minimum cluster of five Instant Prize symbols is needed for an Instant Prize cluster to pay.

A printed 1,000× value is not an automatic 1,000× payout. The group must contain at least five Instant Prize symbols; those prizes can carry different values.

Wild Tape

Wild Tape substitutes for ordinary symbols, except Magnet and Wild Multiplier.

Each Wild Tape starts with a 1× multiplier.

Every time a Wild Tape participates in one or more cluster wins, its multiplier increases by +1.

When no more cluster wins remain, the Wild Tape spins off.

This makes Wild Tape a temporary progression symbol. Its value is tied to how many successive cluster states it survives and contributes to during the current sequence.

It is also the Scatter for the Top Charts feature.

Participation in one or more cluster wins raises that Wild Tape by one at the evaluation. Do not count a separate +1 for every cluster it touches in the same evaluation.

Wild Multiplier

Wild Multiplier symbols can appear in the base game and Top Charts.

The saved paytable lists Wild Multiplier values of: 1×, 2×, 3× and 5×.

When one lands, it distributes its multiplier value to all visible Wild Tapes.

After distributing the value, the Wild Multiplier transforms into an Instant Prize symbol with a random value.

This is a strong interaction because one Wild Multiplier can strengthen several persistent Wild Tapes at once before becoming another potential cluster component.

Magnet

Magnet chooses one paying symbol type from the grid and pulls matching symbols around its position to create a cluster.

It can also attract Instant Prize symbols when at least four are already visible, enabling a five-symbol cluster once the Magnet position is included.

After a cluster is created, Magnet transforms into the selected paying symbol or into an Instant Prize symbol.

Magnet changes the arrangement that determines whether a cluster qualifies. Watch the selected symbol type and the positions pulled toward the Magnet, not just the value printed on a prize.

Top Charts trigger

Three or more Wild Tape symbols landing at the same time trigger the Top Charts Feature.

The Wild Tapes and Instant Prize symbols present when the feature triggers carry into the bonus and stay in their positions.

That makes the trigger state important. The feature does not start from a blank generic board.

Top Charts

During Top Charts, empty positions can land:

  • Wild Tape;
  • Wild Multiplier;
  • Instant Prize;
  • Magnet;
  • Extra Spin;
  • Blank Tape.

Instant Prize symbols that land remain in place for the rest of the feature.

The saved paytable says Instant Prize clusters are evaluated at the end of the feature.

Push Gaming’s provider material also describes Magnet as gaining bonus-specific behaviour: it can attract unlocked Instant Prize symbols within a random range and then transform into a random Instant Prize.

This makes Top Charts a persistent-board version of the same cluster engine rather than an unrelated Free Spins mode.

Maximum payout

The official paytable caps the payout per game round at 10,000× the current Base Bet.

That is a round cap. It is separate from the value printed on one Instant Prize and from a provider’s Highest Observed Win statistic. A single prize symbol still has to join a qualifying cluster to pay.

RTP and volatility

Push Gaming lists two casino RTP options:

  • 96.47%
  • 94.46%

The provider warns that RTP can vary per casino.

Push Gaming labels the title High volatility.

From cluster to held bonus board

  1. Win and refill

    Five identical ordinary tapes create a cluster. Collected tapes spin off and leave room for a refill.

  2. Develop the symbols

    A contributing Wild Tape increases its multiplier. Wild Multipliers and Magnets can change what the next cluster looks like.

  3. Enter Top Charts

    Three or more Wild Tapes landing together trigger Top Charts and carry the Wilds and Instant Prizes into it.

  4. Resolve the held prizes

    New prizes stay on the board. Instant Prize clusters are evaluated at the end of the feature.

Common misunderstandings

A 1,000× Instant Prize symbol does not automatically pay

It still needs a qualifying Instant Prize cluster.

Wild Multiplier and Wild Tape are different

One distributes a multiplier; the other carries and grows one.

The round cap comes from the paytable

The game’s paytable states a 10,000× Base Bet cap per round. A historical result and the rules cap are separate measurements.

96.47% is not universal

Push Gaming also lists a 94.46% casino option.

Player fit

Best suited to players who enjoy:

  • cluster/refill games;
  • multipliers that grow on individual symbols;
  • persistent bonus boards;
  • interacting feature symbols.

Less suited to players who want:

  • fixed paylines;
  • a bonus explained by a spin counter alone;
  • few interacting symbol types.

04 / The SlotsCollector take

Retro Tapes: our take

Wild Tapes grow their own multipliers while Magnets pull symbols into clusters. Top Charts carries the existing Wilds and prizes into a persistent bonus board, where the final arrangement matters.

Retro Tapes becomes much easier to read when every feature is treated as a way of preserving or concentrating value on the grid.

An ordinary tape cluster clears itself. A Wild Tape behaves differently: it can remain useful through multiple cluster states and grows by +1 when it contributes.

A Wild Multiplier can then upgrade every Wild Tape simultaneously. That is not simply one more multiplier symbol; it can change the whole collection of persistent Wilds before turning into an Instant Prize.

Magnet solves a different problem by rearranging symbols. Its main value is creating the shape needed for a cluster, including an Instant Prize cluster when enough prizes are visible.

Top Charts combines all three ideas. Existing Wild Tapes and Instant Prizes carry into the feature. More persistent prizes can land, Wild multipliers can enhance Wild Tapes, and Magnets can pull values into qualifying groups.

That makes the bonus less about “number of free spins” and more about the evolving board.

Push Gaming’s Highest Observed Win describes a recorded result. The saved official paytable separately gives the 10,000× maximum payout, so this review uses the rules cap for that limit.
