Know this game
Cell multipliers add for a winning cluster: 2× and 32× contribute 34×, not 64×. Three Scatters award ten Free Spins, where new multiplier patches stay active throughout the bonus.
Inside the game
Track the positions under the symbols: explosions create value there, and later clusters can use it.
Five or more identical symbols connected horizontally or vertically form a cluster on the 7×7 board. Diagonal contact alone does not connect them; Bonus symbols are excluded from ordinary Cluster Pay combinations.
Clusters can win anywhere on the board. Only the highest award for a given winning combination pays, and the winning symbols are removed to activate the Avalanche.

A cluster win or an Exploding Wild explosion creates spaces.
Existing and new symbols fall into the empty positions.
Another win continues the Avalanche. The round’s accumulated result is presented at the end of the sequence.
An Exploding Wild can land during a spin or Avalanche, or be generated in a winning cluster area. When several clusters win at once, the rules place a generated Exploding Wild randomly in one of those areas.
The blast clears symbols in a 3×3 area around and under the Wild. It also creates or upgrades multiplier cells in that footprint, so the explosion changes both the visible symbols and the values underneath.

New multiplier cells begin at 2×. A later Exploding Wild that overlaps an existing cell doubles its value, up to a maximum of 128× per cell.
The values covered by a winning cluster add together. The official example uses a 2× cell plus a 32× cell to produce a 34× multiplier for that win; the cells do not multiply one another.

Three Scatters anywhere award ten Free Spins. The same three-Scatter condition during the feature adds another ten spins.
Base-game multiplier patches reset when the bonus begins. The feature then develops a new grid whose multiplier cells remain active throughout its Free Spins, allowing later explosions and clusters to reuse those positions.
Free Spins use the bet that triggered the feature. A bet cannot be changed during a game round.

The saved rules give 96.16% RTP for normal play and 96.44% for Feature Buy. Those are separate entry-mode values, not two normal-game RTP builds to blend into one number.
The saved purchase screen shows €100 at a €1 bet, or 100× stake. Buying starts a spin that triggers the Bonus Game; it does not guarantee a payout equal to the purchase price. The feature may be unavailable in some markets.
Consider an illustrative cluster covering cells of 2×, 8× and 32×. Their contribution is 42× because the cell values add. This is an arithmetic example, not a captured result.
If a later blast doubles the 8× cell to 16×, a new cluster covering those same three positions would have a 50× contribution: 2 + 16 + 32. The new symbol combination still needs to qualify as a winning cluster.
| Cluster-covered cells | Sum |
|---|---|
| 2× + 8× + 32× | 42× |
| 2× + 16× + 32× after one cell doubles | 50× |
First watch where a blast leaves its multiplier patch. Then compare a later blast’s footprint: only the positions that overlap an existing patch are doubled, while newly activated positions begin at 2×.
When a cluster wins across the developed area, read the cell values it actually covers. A large multiplier elsewhere on the board contributes nothing merely by being visible outside that cluster.
Two multipliers under one cluster are summed, not multiplied.
It is not the entire cluster multiplier or the game’s maximum payout.
Free Spins starts after the base multiplier patches reset.
A visible cell value is not itself an immediate cash award.
Hot Potato suits players who like watching positions develop beneath a cluster board. The payoff structure is easier to follow when you track the grid as well as the new symbols falling onto it.
It is a less direct match for someone who wants fixed paylines or a bonus that resets all progress on each spin. Thunderkick classifies it as Very High volatility, so a developed grid is not a promise of a particular return.
Multiplier values belong to positions under the symbols. A winning burger or fries symbol can disappear, and a different symbol can fall into the same valued cell.
That distinction explains why the board has a history within the sequence. Reading only the latest symbols misses the multiplier patch beneath them; reading only the patch misses whether a valid cluster has actually formed.
Both modes use the same five-symbol cluster requirement, Avalanches and Exploding Wilds. Free Spins changes the lifetime of the newly developed multiplier grid.
The base-game patches are cleared at feature entry. From that point, the bonus patches are sticky for the whole feature, so an early explosion can affect later spins rather than only the current refill sequence.
| Moment | What happens |
|---|---|
| Base-game sequence | Explosions create and upgrade patches |
| Bonus begins | Base patches reset |
| During Free Spins | New bonus patches stay active |
| Retrigger | Three Scatters add ten spins to the feature |
The rules distinguish a Wild landing on the board from one generated in a winning cluster. Both can explode, and an explosion itself can start the refill process even before another normal cluster appears.
Wilds substitute for ordinary symbols but not the Scatter. Their substitution role, clearing effect and multiplier footprint therefore do different jobs in the same sequence.
Normal-play RTP is 96.16%; purchased Bonus Game RTP is 96.44%. The difference is 0.28 percentage points between the documented entry modes, not a promise that a bought bonus will produce a better individual result.
The game-round cap is 10,000× the bet. If reached, the round terminates and no additional wins are paid. Remaining opportunities inside that round do not override the cap.
| Measure | Value | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| RTP | 96.16% | Normal play |

| Cell maximum | 128× | One multiplier cell |
A 7×7 board contains 49 positions, but it does not have 49 paylines. A 3×3 explosion describes the area affected by a Wild, while a five-symbol minimum describes a valid cluster.
These numbers should be read with their units: positions, blast footprint and matching-symbol count. None can be substituted for the number of Free Spins, which is ten from the three-Scatter trigger.
The symbol paytable uses cluster-size bands: five through nine symbols have individual rows, then 10–11, 12–14, 15–19, 20–24 and 25+ use grouped awards. Different ordinary symbols have different values at the same cluster size.
The saved panel labels its payouts in euros relative to the current bet. Those displayed cash figures are not universal bet multipliers. Read the selected stake and symbol row before applying the multiplier contribution from the covered cells.
When comparing Hot Potato with another cluster slot, start with how a position becomes valuable. Here, Exploding Wilds activate 2× patches and repeated blast overlap doubles cells; a cluster merely landing on a position is not the complete upgrade rule.
Next compare how those values combine and survive: Hot Potato adds covered cells for the cluster, resets base patches at bonus entry and preserves new patches through Free Spins. Games with similar grids can use different arithmetic and reset rules.

04 / The SlotsCollector take
Exploding Wilds build multiplier patches beneath a 7×7 cluster grid.
Hot Potato is built around the board beneath the symbols. Clusters supply wins, but Exploding Wilds create patches of multiplier cells that can matter to later refills and, during Free Spins, to later spins.
The blast has two effects worth separating. It clears a 3×3 area, creating room for new symbols, and activates 2× cells beneath it. A later overlapping blast doubles existing cells up to 128×, making the geometry of the overlap important.
The arithmetic is additive. A winning cluster covering 2× and 32× cells receives a 34× multiplier contribution, not 64×. A valuable cell elsewhere on the board does not contribute unless the cluster covers it.
Three Scatters award ten Free Spins, but the developed base grid is cleared at entry. The bonus then keeps its own patches throughout the feature. That reset followed by persistence is the main distinction between arriving with a strong base board and building a strong bonus board.
Feature Buy has a separate documented return of 96.44%, compared with 96.16% for normal play. The saved €100 price at a €1 bet means entry costs 100× the stake; it is not a guaranteed 100× return.
The 10,000× round cap is separate from the 128× cell ceiling. Reaching the game cap ends the round, while the cell limit only describes one part of the multiplier map.
For players who enjoy following a changing grid, the explosions and retained positions give the feature a clear identity. Thunderkick’s Very High volatility label still matters: visible progress makes the rules legible, not the eventual payout predictable.
