Dead Canary makes damage part of the payout process. Its birds collect values while alive, but only award those stored amounts when they die; bombs also reset spins and can unlock the corner vaults.

Know this game
Separate the mine-opening base game from Canary Free Spins. Inside the bonus, track bird value, hit points, vault access and the three-spin counter rather than reading every collected amount as money already won.
Inside the game
The rules link board expansion, diagonal Wild Mining and a bonus with several distinct payout conditions.
The inspected rules describe a six-reel area that starts with a partially blocked structure.
The available rows can grow to: 3-4-3-4-3-4
The game ranges from 36 to 1,728 ways as the mine opens.
Winning symbols explode. Remaining symbols fall downward and then left before new symbols enter.
A blocked row can open after:
This means the win system and the physical board are connected: clearing symbols can directly increase future reel capacity.
Wild Mining can trigger in the base game when 3, 4 or 5 matching paying symbols align diagonally without forming a normal winning combination.
The triggering symbols are removed and create Wild bombs:
Wild bomb explosions increase the win multiplier by 1 for the next collapse.
The diagonal pattern matters because Wild Mining occurs when there is no ordinary winning combination. It gives a non-paying alignment a separate way to create bombs and continue the round.

In base play, an xBomb substitutes for regular symbols except Scatters, then explodes eligible neighbouring positions in a cross pattern. It increases the win multiplier by one for the next collapse.
Other xBombs and Scatters are excluded from that normal explosion removal. All xBombs resolve before the next collapse, and an explosion next to a barrier can open another blocked row.
Wild Mining has a separate Scatter-displacement rule: if its removal blows away a Scatter, that symbol returns at a random position on the next collapse. That should not be confused with ordinary xBomb substitution.

Dead Canary has two Cage Scatter types:
Three Scatters of either type trigger Canary Free Spins.
In base play, a Scatter hidden behind a barrier remains inactive until that barrier is opened.
During Canary Free Spins, Scatters stick to their positions unless they land in a vault position and are moved toward the centre.
xBet costs an extra 40%.
The inspected provider description says it:
The inspected RTP for xBet is 96.33%.
Treat it as a separate wager configuration.

Three Scatters trigger the feature.
The reel area becomes 4-3-4-3-4-3-4 around the feature/vault structure, with four locked vaults in the corners.
The feature starts with 3 spins.
Landing xBombs resets the spin counter to 3.
Scatter birds start at 1× and collect values from the board. Silver and Gold cages have different collection reach: The leftmost Scatter resolves its collection first.
Scatter birds begin with 3 hit points. xBomb and Gas effects reduce hit points. When a bird dies, the accumulated value is awarded and the bird later respawns in its cage. The rules explicitly state that collected bird values are only awarded when the bird dies. This is an important mechanical distinction from ordinary cash-collect slots.
The four corner vaults collect Coins and multipliers from neighbouring positions while locked. xBomb explosions can open them. Once unlocked, their stored content is awarded at the end of the bonus.
Coin values are expressed as multiples of the active bet. Multiplier items can double or triple collected values. Both Scatters and vaults stop collecting after the game’s 65,000× cap is reached.
A Scatter that collects the Dwarf becomes a persistent collector. On later spins, it collects from the other Scatter birds until the Dwarf state ends. It also gains a hit point. The Dwarf uses the collection shape of the bird it transformed from.
A Scatter that collects the Rat becomes a persistent payer. Instead of pulling value in, it shares its collected value to the other Scatter birds on each spin until the Rat state ends. It also gains a hit point. This Collector-versus-Payer distinction is the easiest way to explain Dwarf and Rat.
An upgrade item can turn Silver Cage Scatters into Gold Cages and add a hit point. That improves both collection reach and survivability.

The saved normal-play RTP is 96.02%. The provider also lists a 94.12% build, while xBet and the three named feature buys have separate RTPs.
The maximum payout is 65,000× base bet. The rules report a simulated maximum-payout frequency of one in 7,000,000 rounds; that is neither the bonus-trigger frequency nor a countdown to a guaranteed win.
The retained menu shows prices of 68×, 284× and 500× base bet for the three feature entries. xBet costs 1.4× base bet, an extra 40%, and leaves individual symbol payouts based on the underlying base bet.
| Mode | RTP |
|---|---|
| Normal play | 96.02% |
| xBet | 96.33% |
| Canary Free Spins buy | 96.30% |
| Golden Scatter Canary Free Spins buy | 96.37% |
| Lucky Draw buy | 96.39% |
Four quantities coexist in the bonus. Bird values can grow without being paid yet, hit points control when those values are released, vaults need access, and the spin counter controls how long collection can continue.
A single xBomb can affect more than one of these quantities. That is why watching only the largest printed number misses the conditions needed to turn it into a payout.
| State | How it changes | What it controls |
|---|---|---|
| Bird value | Coins, multipliers and enhancer interactions | Amount released when the bird dies |
| Bird hit points | Bombs/Gas reduce; upgrades/enhancers can add | Timing of the bird’s payout and respawn |
| Vault | Collects while locked; xBomb can unlock | Whether stored content pays at feature end |
| Spins | Start at 3; xBomb resets to 3 | Remaining time for the bonus |
A Silver Cage collects from the one-position X-shaped neighbourhood around it. A Gold Cage reaches along the full X-shaped rows.
The leftmost Scatter resolves its collection first. Collection order and reach can therefore matter when several birds occupy the board.
An upgrade turns a Silver Cage into a Gold Cage and adds one hit point. It changes reach and survival at the same time, rather than merely relabeling the same bird.

A bird that picks up the Dwarf becomes a persistent collector. It draws value from other Scatter birds on each spin while alive, using the collection shape of the bird it replaced, and gains a hit point.

A bird that picks up the Rat becomes a persistent payer. It shares its stored value with other Scatter birds on each spin while alive and gains a hit point. When the enhancer dies, a bird returns to the cage.
The collected value is tied to the bird’s death/award flow.
It can reset spins, open vaults, damage birds and affect barriers.
It is stored until the vault is opened and then resolved at feature end.
The collection shape differs.
Coins, bird values and vault values stop progressing at the cap according to the rules.
Good fit:
Less suitable:
Dead Canary is easier to understand if the player sees the base game as a mine-opening sequence.
The board begins with barriers blocking part of the available reel area.
Three things can push the mine forward:
Every opened barrier changes the future reel geometry. That means a modest-looking base-game event can still matter because it increases the amount of active board available on later collapses in the same round.
Wild Mining is unusual because it starts from a pattern that is not already a winning combination.
Three, four or five matching paying symbols arranged diagonally can trigger it when no normal win exists.
The reward is feature state rather than a standard payline:
A Scatter can exist behind a barrier without being active.
That creates an important timing rule:
If xBomb displacement affects a Scatter, the rules describe the Scatter reappearing on the next collapse.
This is useful player-facing information because it explains why a Scatter can appear to move.
Three starting spins are the feature’s clock. An xBomb resets them to three, while ordinary collected items do not automatically grant a new full counter.
A bird starts with 1× value and three hit points. Coins add value, multiplier items can double or triple it, and damage reduces the time before that value is paid and the bird respawns.
The four corner vaults collect Coins and multipliers from three neighbouring positions while locked. Opening them changes their payout eligibility; it does not make their contents an immediate bird collection.
Scatters normally stay in place through the bonus. A Scatter landing in a vault position is pushed toward an available central space instead.
A bird’s death is the condition that releases its collected value. While it is alive, the printed amount remains stored rather than automatically paid.
xBombs and Gas remove hit points. Upgrades and the Dwarf or Rat enhancer can add a point, allowing the affected bird to continue collecting longer.
After death the bird respawns in its cage. Survival and payout timing pull in different directions: more time can mean more collection, but the stored value still needs the death event to be awarded.
Coins add their bet-relative value to the collecting bird. Multiplier items can double or triple a bird’s or vault’s collected value.
Gas affects adjacent birds and removes one hit point. It has a damage role rather than the spin-reset and vault-opening roles associated with bombs.
A cage upgrade changes Silver to Gold and adds a hit point. The three item types therefore affect amount, payout timing and collection reach in different ways.

The corner vault stores Coins and multipliers from its three neighbouring positions.
An explosion can unlock the vault and make the collected contents eligible for payout.
The opened vault’s stored content is awarded at the end of the bonus, while the other birds and vaults continue their own interactions.

xBet alters a base-game spin: the total wager is 1.4 times the base bet, a Scatter is guaranteed and the first barrier opens. Individual symbol payouts do not rise with that extra entry charge.
The three feature purchases skip to a bonus entry instead. The saved menu lists 68×, 284× and 500× base-bet prices, with the applicable game mode and total charge shown before activation.
The retained rules allow a maximum €100 base bet for the listed Booster and buy configurations. That is the underlying base-bet ceiling, not a €100 ceiling on the much larger total purchase cost.
A bird has to die for its collected amount to be awarded.
The xBomb unlock and end-of-feature resolution are both part of its payout path.
xBomb resets the bonus counter; collecting a coin is a different action.
One in seven million concerns the simulated maximum payout, not entry to Canary Free Spins.
A conventional three-spin reset bonus mainly asks whether a new symbol lands before the counter expires. Dead Canary adds stored value, health and access conditions to that loop.
That added complexity is its main attraction if you enjoy interacting collectors. A large bird value, a nearly dead bird and an unopened valuable vault can mean three different things at the same moment.
Players who prefer a single growing multiplier or a simple fixed Free Spins allowance may find this board harder to follow. The distinction comes from the rules, not just the dark mine artwork.
In the base view, first locate the blocked rows and the current ways count. A win or qualifying mining event can open more of the same round’s board.
In Canary Free Spins, read each bird’s cage, stored amount and hit points before the spin counter. Then check whether the corner vaults are open.
The retained base and purchase-menu screenshots show the game’s layout and paid-entry controls. The feature diagrams alongside this guide come from its original rules assets; they are illustrations of mechanics, not claims of captured winning outcomes.

04 / The SlotsCollector take
An expanding mine leads to a three-spin bonus where birds store value, damage releases it and vaults must be opened.
Dead Canary turns a small, partially blocked mine into a much more involved collector bonus. The most important question is not just how much value is visible, but what still has to happen before it pays.
In the base game, barriers control how much reel space exists. Wins and xBombs are valuable not only because they pay or modify a multiplier, but because they can open more of the mine.
Wild Mining adds a second route to progression. A diagonal non-win can become a feature event, which is counterintuitive until you know to look for it.
Canary Free Spins then replaces the ordinary cascade focus with a collection ecosystem. The birds are not passive Scatters. They have hit points, collection ranges and stored values.
The most important rule is that a bird’s collected value is tied to its survival state. xBombs and Gas reduce hit points, and death is part of the payout flow rather than simply a negative event.
The vaults create another persistent layer. They collect while locked and need xBomb interaction to open. That means xBomb can simultaneously reset spins, damage birds and unlock stored value.
The appeal is the interaction between these conditions. A bomb can be useful for time, access and payout timing at once, making the next board event more informative than the printed value of a single symbol.
